Have you heard about The H.A.L.T. method?A simply but powerful method to help you stop and think before reacting.
Just like crossing the road, you stop (H.A.L.T.) and look in both directions (Check-in) to make sure it’s safe to walk across (React)
H – Are you Hungry? Not just for food but for physical and emotional fulfilment. When our needs are not met, we lose the ability to operate like we would normally.
A – Are you Angry? Anger is a normal healthy emotion that we experience but how you express it can be a problem. Release this built up energy by doing some sort of physical activity like going for a walk or vacuuming the house, then take some time to understand why you are angry. Being angry changes the way we would normally respond to a situation.
L – Are you Lonely? Just because you are surrounded by people it doesn’t mean you don’t feel lonely. Before you make any decisions, contact someone who will listen to you and get their perspective on things it might help to see the choices you have from a different angle.
T – Are you Tired? Being tired effects our behaviour in more ways than one. Not only does it affect our physical health but it also effects our mental health. What might seem like a good decision when we are tired might turn out to be a really bad choice after resting up.
